Escape to the South

I got the little break I have been fancying about since this year began last Sunday when a bunch of friends (who happen to be colleagues) and I went to Moalboal to "unwind". It was quite an impulsive (and out of the blue) move of us since there wasn't really any planning involved. We just decided that we needed to getaway awhile before we lose the little sanity we have left (nah, just exaggerating). We intentionally not plan the details of the trip, only the when and where, because we were afraid that if we plan too much it might not push through, which is always the case.

So came Sunday morning, we met at emall to do a little shopping for supplies like food, tissue, soap, shampoo, etc. because we only brought changing clothes and swimwear with us. A commuted v-hire took us to Moalboal in a 2-hour ride. Going there was already an adventure for me because my tummy acted up! Luckily, a CR was available the moment we stepped into Moalboal grounds. Whew! That was close. (eeewww! hehe)

We found a room just right by the sea in one the White Beach Resorts at Basdaku, Moalboal at a very reasonable price. When I saw the beach I felt a mixture of uber excitement and uber hunger (we were starving!). So before we lounged in our rented room we had a simple yet hearty lunch of lechon manok and seaweeds with hanging rice (a.k.a puso) first. It being high noon, it was still too hot to go swimming so we chilled in our room and played "unggoy-unggoy", a card game. How wonderful life is if you can just play the simplest card game and have the most fun, don't you think? Of course, the amount of fun you get has a lot to do with who you're with.

At almost dusk we decided that it was perfect time to swim with the sun already down. Feeling the white fine sand under my feet and the clear seawater cooling my toes was one of the best feelings ever. I wished I could swim forever!

Of course, any outing is never complete without pictures. So we sure took lots of them. You know how much we love the camera (mura bya mi'g artista!)

For dinner we ordered more than a kilo of crabs, grilled fishes, and barbecue. We ate at the beach outside our room standing up because there weren't any chairs. Food shared with people you wanna share food with always makes your tummy and heart epic full. After dinner, we bummed at the beach gazing at the skies (I don't remember stars though, it was cloudy.) sharing stories and laughing before it started to drizzle. Because of the drizzle, we have to go back to our room and resume our story-telling (...a lie?), which didn't end until past 1 AM. When we woke up at 6 AM, we immediately went for the sea. Another episode of soaking, laughing, and picture taking to start the day...life can't get any better than this!

We had breakfast of instant noodles and bread before heading back to the city (back to the real world...huhu!). The uneventful trip back brought us directly to work since we had a faculty development seminar in the afternoon.

That short break was exactly what we needed as we embrace more work this week for the final exams and grade computations and deadlines. We promised ourselves that there will be more unplanned exciting outings to come...Promise lagi!
