Childhood Memory No.1

I might have mentioned before that my childhood memories are so vivid and they extend a very long way down. Well, I wanna share some to you, my dear scarcely any readers. Kay wala lang, feel lang nako.

Here goes...

I learned the alphabet even before I went to nursery school (at 3) through a yellow Tupperware lunch box my mother bought for me. The said lunch box has the letters of the English alphabet (uppercase and lowercase) on its top. I brought that box with me every time I tag along my parents to work(because I wasn't schooling yet), which was almost everyday. I used to copy the letters in the lunch box in pieces of paper (the size of flash cards which I got from my father's office) and asked my parents what they're called and my parents would then teach me their sounds. I remember confusing between the "n" and "h", "b" and "d", and writing the "N" facing the other way. Those were the hardest to learn.

I don't remember how I learned the "Ññ" and the "Ng" though. All I know is that I have already completed the Filipino alphabet when I was in Kindergarten II because at the beginning of the school year our teacher told us to write the alphabet in our writing pad and I remember getting confused whether she meant the ones with the "Ññ" and "Ng" or not. And so, I wrote the "Ññ" and "Ng" to be sure because that would be two more letters than the ordinary ones. When our teacher saw what I did she was somewhat shocked because it was never taught to us in class.

After that, learning to read was a breeze!

How did you learn the alphabet?

The only thing I remembered about learning the alphabets was capital letter 'E'. I used to right it with a lot (and I mean A LOT) of horizontal lines.
