My holidays was spent with my family. It was great having to bond as a whole family again coz I totally miss those days we were all together in one roof. My sister came home from Nueva Ecija, she was even home before us. We went to the beach for my "nasal therapy" coz my mother says the sea will help my sinusitis so we had breakfast there. I don't really care if it helps, I just love the peace at the beach and I love to swim (you might have noticed that).
My parents' attitude calls for a celebration. I noticed that they are more active and adventurous now and willing to try new things. We made trips to town and had dinner at Baybay's seaside boulevard. At one time, we went on an impromptu road trip to Ormoc on their suggestion and had pasta and halohalo for lunch, which never happened before. Trips used to be well-planned and meals were always proper meals (rice + viand).

We spent the New Year in San Remegio with my aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. The trip was, in a way, nostalgic to me coz I have spent so many childhood summers here. My cousins and I used to play a lot at the sugarcane fields (after the harvest), corn fields, and hills. We also played, collected shells, and swam in white-sand beaches there. As long as we can play, life was always good as a kid. Now my cousins and I are busy with our own lives, dealing with our own problems, and we don't see each other much anymore. Sometimes I wish we could just go back to when our biggest problem was the kite not flying so high or the starfishes that we've collected were all gone. I feel kinda bad that I'm on the same island yet my last visit prior to this was 3 years ago. Oh, well...
Instead of wishing for what has been but will never be anymore, let's just cherish our times together, shall we? This was our chance for the ultimate family bonding. So we did a lot of ea
ting (food is always great when you eat together), and singing (3 days of sing-til-you-drop magic sing sessions), and laughing. We all went to the beach on New Year's day and the kids all loved it. I used to be one of the kids, but now we have a new generation (my cousins' kids), so I'm one of the aunts now. We didn't really prepare much food, just enough for everyone but we were big on laughs. I had a great time really.I really don't know how to end this post except to wish for more family bondings this 2009.
