If you're a teacher you don't need a watch (or a school bell) to tell when is it time to end the lecture. When your look-conscious (a.k.a. vain) students start retouching their makeup, then it's about time for your next class.

When students don't ask any questions after your lecture, it only means any of the two: either they totally understand so there's no need to ask any questions OR they have no idea whatsoever what you were talking about so they don't know what to ask.
