The Perks of Being a Wallflower (by Stephen Chbosky)

...is a must-read book!

I loved it. It's insightful and devastating and funny at the same time. Once I started it, I couldn't stop reading it even if I ought to be busy with a lot of other things. It's about a boy who sees the world from the "wall", then later gets his turn to "participate" and views life from the "dancefloor". The book talks about issues of adolescence like sexuality, introversion, coming of age, etc. It is narrated through Charlie's letters to who knows.

There are many things I can relate to Charlie (the narrator) because I used to be very shy. What he thinks and what I think when I'm alone in a crowded place are almost the same. I notice the small things and I wonder about how or why things are what they are. Deep? No. Just probably bored. When I was in college, when pressure hits me hard or when I'm just sad I walk around the campus with no directions at all. And while I walk, I don't think about my problems. I think about the most "insignificant" things like what could be the story behind a fallen leaf or what could a bird be telling the other bird. I wouldn't realize how far I've gone until later when it's already dark. I know it's so weird. Well, we all have our own weirdness.

Here are some quotes I got from the book:
"So, this is my life. And I want you to know that I am both happy and sad and I'm still trying to figure out how that could be."

"And in that moment, I swear we were infinite."

"But even if we don't have the power to choose where we come from, we can still choose where we go from there."
