So today is last day of Summer 2008. Wow. Time really flies, doesn't it? Not too long ago I was complaining about being sick at the start of the term and the famine that goes with our very low summer pay. Finally, things (such as salary) will be normal again (I wish!).
But despite the low pay, there are many many things I wanna be thankful for this summer. A big part of that is the opportunity to go to Manila for the Smart ADIS Training. Because of it I stepped in Manila for the first time (not that it's my dream or anything; it's always good to experience new things), I flew for the first time (yes, I'm 20 something and that was my first time on a plane), I had a chance to visit my sister's new second home, I met new friends (whom I will never forget and I do hope we'll meet again), and I gained new knowledge (hopefully I won't unlearn too soon). I am very grateful to Smart and CIT for the opportunity.
June is coming and I know it's gonna be really busy. Our college is applying for PACUCOA accreditation again. Everyone (including me) is gonna be in a lot of frenzy just to get things in order before the scheduled visit sometime in August or September. Plus, Sir Lau said I'm teaching a new subject this new sem. This means most likely starting from scratch in slides, notes, exams and a lot of studying to do. I'm kinda nervous about that but that's ok coz I know I can always get help from other faculty members and they are always willing to.
I'm quite excited to meet new faces again. That's one of the perks of being a teacher. You get to meet many new faces of many different personalities and so everyday is always an adventure in the classroom. It makes teaching never boring (AND it keeps you young).
But I don't think I'm quite ready to meet the adventures of this coming new semester just yet. I need a little break and I'm definitely going to get it. I'm going home next week to unwind and breathe some fresh air. Hopefully, by the time school starts again I'd be refreshed and energized. Hahaha

man i just did this crossword today and learned that Manila is the capital of the Phillippines. like the envelope, tu sais? COINCIDENCE. anyways. bye.
I don't know which one got its name first: the envelope or the city but yeah, Manila is capital of the Philippines.
Manilla envelopes obviously existed before the Philippines. Jeez. :p Your country is a bunch of copiers. D:
I searched about it (although I'm not so sure about the reliability of my source). Here's the best I can come up with:
Manila envelope is named for its main component, the abaca (a.k.a manila hemp), which is indigenous to the Philippines, and so the manila envelope got its name after the capital city.

I had no idea =\
I always thought it was a mixture of the colours mauve and vanilla or something. You learn something new everyday.
Yeah, it's always nice to learn something. I've seen this abaca plant (manila hemp), there's a lot of it where I live. It really looks like a banana plant only its fruit is not edible.
