At the moment...

I'm back!

I really didn't know how to start this entry. (There I said it.) I want to describe our last days on the training and the farewells and the journey and coming back and everything...but I don't really know how. My thoughts are all jumbled. Anyhow, let me just get done with it.

During the last few days of the training I was coding and I mean lots of coding and I was loving it. It was the portion that I liked. We were actually only testing but I couldn't help but try to debug. I like the feeling of making something work (the program, in this case). And also, I get high every time I try to compile and run the codes with the changes I made. I get so excited (and my tummy flips) to find out if the changes I made worked or not. I'm sure other programmers get the same feeling.

We got to bond and learn more about other trainees, who are faculty members in other schools, before we said our goodbyes. I really would love to talk those from Manila more but language is such a barrier. I can understand and write Tagalog well but I'm not so good at speaking it. I get so conscious with pronunciation and my accent get in the way, I can't help it. While I was there, I tried to avoid speaking in Tagalog as much as possible, which I know is not very smart thing to do. Speaking in English is not good either coz you would be "Inglesera".

This was taken Thursday, second-to-the-last day of training. One word: NOSEBLEED!
and more bloody noses...

On the last day, we were all in good spirits. The SMART people (organizers) came and we had a program and graduation, which is basically just giving out of our certificates. Yeah, we are now certified ADIS-ADIS. Haha. Then we had lunch during and after which lots of pictures were taken, farewells were exchanged as well as contract infos. I personally would miss them and the whole "Manila adventure". I honestly learned a lot.
This Sir Ron, our trainer. At first I thought he would "terrorize" us all with everything we have to learn. I was wrong. We were actually relaxed as we tried to absorb everything he taught. Besides software development and whatnot, another very important lesson we learned from him was how to go around Manila without being lost. Before our sessions start he would sketch portions of the Manila map and teach us how to go there like what to ride and where to get off and stuffs. This is a matter of great importance because without it we would not be able to go our regular laag adventures after our training sessions. I think Sir Ron would make a good tourist consultant (if there is such a thing) or tour guide. Hahaha. Peace, Sir!
Before we left the guest house, we didn't miss the chance to take a pic there. We ladies have very fond memories of the room we stayed in at Solomon's Guest House with it's friendly and very helpful guards, comfortable and cozy ambiance, clean bathrooms, and cable TV. It was a great refuge after our busy days. Char!

The gorgeous four shared a hearty breakfast with the guys on Friday morning. This was the last breakfast of the four of us together.
Our flights going home were not all the same. Ma'am Jen and Sir Chris went first coz their flight was 10 am. Then Miss Marianne and Sir Al left next for their flight at 1pm. Since our flight with Miss Cathy was still 3pm, we went for a quick "shopping" for pasalubong at Baclaran market, where stuffs are sooo sooooo cheap compared to what the malls have. It turned out that Miss Marianne and Sir Al's flight was delayed so we met them at the airport. The Bohol guys (Sir Rey, Sir Migs and Sir Jay) were also there coz their flight was also 3pm. While we were waiting for boarding time, there was an announcement asking for 3 volunteers from our flight who would give up their seats and be on the 5:45pm flight. The prize was a free round trip ticket to any domestic destination valid for a year. Miss Cath and I were so quick to go to information. To us, a 2 hour delay is nothing in exchange for free plane tickets. But it turned out to be false alarm, they didn't need the seats afterall. Sayang. I was thinking pa naman of Boracay, even if I have to go alone. This is a quick shot of some of the bisdak bunch at the airport.
This was our plane.

And this was inside it...

There was a tropical depression passing over Luzon that day. Metro Manila was even on public storm signal no.1 and my parents, of course, were worried. I was kinda glad because I was secretly hoping I'd experience real turbulence (This goes too when I'm on a boat. I like the boat to rock with the waves because I find it boring when it's just steady.). I was not worried for accidents while on the air because of the bad weather because statistically, road accidents are more likely to happen than plane accidents (but no one is afraid to ride a car or jeep or bus). But the sky was clear more or less and there was only very little turbulence.
Arriving safely at Mactan airport, Miss Cath and I have to use trolleys for our baggage (they were heavy!). Why is it that every time we go to a trip, our load gets heavier going back?
Stepping on Cebu grounds made me realize that I really am back...to work, to the routines, to the old friends, to the usual environment. The ending of the training was kinda sad, I miss my new friends already. And even if Manila is a crazy city with everyone in a hurry, I kinda miss the frenzy. But on a brighter note, I can again speak very comfortably in Cebuano without worrying of not being understood. Plus, it's back to less traffic mode.

Here are some of my friends after church service today. They were all so glad to see me (at least I think they are). Hahaha. It's good to know I was missed!
And here's my keyboard and I. I missed my keyboard, of course I couldn't bring her with me to Manila. Now we can jam again. Yey!
