My blog is back to life! (I hope...)

So, I'm back! Sorry for not updating...I can tell you that I've been so busy but real reason is I've been lazy (and perhaps sidetracked too).

So, random updates...

> On the first week of April I attend a Training on the Design and Analysis of Experiments and Surveys, a two-day mentally exhausting but interesting affair conducted by the Philippine Statistical Association Central Visayas Chapter and CIT Math Department. I actually only got a chance to attend because of the kindness of our dean who lent me bucks for the registration fees coz I'm totally broke those days (tingbitay!). I got interested when I saw the banner announcing the training because for one, I miss the "real" Statistics that I knew in college and I want to hear other input besides the ones from my mentors. At first I thought I wouldn't learn much coz I've taken Experimental Designs and Survey Sampling in college. But I'm glad I was wrong. I definitely did learn a lot from the resource speaker, Dr. Arturo Pacificador Jr., one the few survey statisticians in the country. Some of the most important things that I learned are not even found on textbooks. During the training (especially at times when we were eating and mingling with other trainees), I met fellow statisticians (and from same school I got my degree) who think like me "statistically" and it was fun sharing ideas even if they're several years older than me. I also got to talk to one of the instructors of CSCST (also a statistician) who got me contemplating on finishing what I started with my doctorate. Well, I'm still pondering on that.

> I've quite recently got addicted to facebook. No, not the profiles and status updates but the apps like Poker and Farm Town. And it's not just me but so are my colleagues. A lot of them have their own farms and pets too and sometimes we play poker til midnight. Ha!

> Summer classes has just started. And as always, it's famine for us coz of the very little summer load. But that's ok. It's only two months, we can get through (just be optimistic). It's just quite difficult to figure out how I'm gonna pay my credit card bills now.

> I've been lucky lately at spotting sale books from my favorite author, Anne Tyler. So now I'm alternating my spare time between internet and reading. Ha! (talk about relaxation)

> I really wanna go to the beach but the good chance has not come yet. I promise that this summer won't be over til I get my butt to the beach. Hehe...anyone wanna go with me?
