What is the probability that...

...you get to have the same ID numbers for two of the schools you have attended (or still attending)?

Slim, of course. Maybe close to zero. But it happened to my MCS at CIT and PhDTM at CSCST. It's amazing how of the approximately 9000 students in CIT who enrolled in 2005, I was given the ID number 2769, which is also the ID number CSCST gave me when I enroled this week.

That was my ID at CIT when I took my MCS. 2005-02769, where 2005 idicates the year I first enrolled and the last five digits means that I was the 2769th enrollee for that year.

That is my ID at CSCST, which I got when I enrolled earlier this week for their Ph.D. Technology Management program. The first digit (1) means it's "off-sem", the next two digits indicates the year (08) and the last four digits means I was the 2769th enrollee for this year.
